IMPORTANT
IMPORTANT
Please choose your carabiner wisely, mini carabiners are designed exclusively for small dogs weighing up to 6 kg, for larger dogs and growing pups the next convenient version is the carabiner without autolock, it is a little heavier but much stronger, safety first!
If your dog pulls a lot - it is better to choose bioThane 13 mm wide and more or consider a rubberized webbing.

Width & Carabiner Guide
-
🐕 Choose the Right Carabiner
The size of your dog is the main factor when selecting a carabiner. For smaller dogs (XS to SM+ on our harness chart), we recommend non-autolock carabiners — they are lighter and more comfortable. Less weight means less pressure on the collar or harness.
For dogs up to 8 kg, our Mini Carabiner is the best choice — it’s our lightest option, specially designed for very small dogs.
For active or large dogs, we recommend using a carabiner with an autolock for extra safety and reliability during intense activity. -
📏 Find the Ideal Width
When it comes to Biothane leash width, the most versatile and commonly used size is 13mm — strong yet lightweight. For very large dogs (40kg or more) or strong pullers, 16mm offers more durability. For very small dogs (under 6kg), we recommend 9mm for the best comfort and fit.
-
⚖️ Match Size with Strength
As a general rule:
Lighter and thinner leashes are best for small dogs,Thicker and stronger leashes are safer for larger or more powerful dogs.
Choosing the right balance ensures both comfort and safety on your walks.
IMPORTANT SAFE MEASURES
-
-
-
Attach It Properly!
Please make sure you attach the carabiner to the harness ring correctly. Your dog's safety can depend on proper attachment.
If the carabiner is not secured the right way—especially if it does not have an auto-locking mechanism—it may come undone on its own due to its design. Taking a moment to double-check can help prevent accidents.
CARABINERS
-
NO AUTOLOCK
Breaking load of this lightweight carabiner is 400kg. Perfect for small and medium sized dogs.
-
AUTOLOCK
The breaking load is the same 400kg, but it is stronger and more durable for larger and/or more active dogs.
The main difference between carabiners with autolock is the presence of a pivoting mechanism in the design that completely blocks accidental opening. -
MINI
We recommend choosing the "mini" for dogs weighing up to 6 kg, even though we know that the breaking load of this super-small carabiner is 100 kg.

🔧 Carabiner Care Reminder
Even the simplest mechanisms need a little care to keep working properly. If you use your carabiners in all kinds of conditions — mud, sand, water, or on the beach — they can collect debris that affects how the mechanism moves.
⠀
Over time, sand or dirt can get into the moving parts, making the carabiner harder to open, close, or even causing it to stick.
⠀
To keep everything working smoothly, clean your carabiner from time to time and, if needed, apply a small amount of lubricant (like WD-40) to the moving parts. A quick spray is often enough to restore smooth, safe operation.
